Pass Christian — locals call it “the Pass” — is the westernmost town on the Harrison County coastline and arguably the most charming. With historic homes lining the beach, a proud sailing tradition, and a walkable downtown, it offers a side of the Mississippi Gulf Coast that feels worlds apart from the casinos and shopping centers to the east.

Beach Boulevard Scenic Drive

The drive along Beach Boulevard (Highway 90) through Pass Christian is one of the most scenic stretches on the entire Gulf Coast. Grand live oaks arch over the road, and antebellum and postwar homes line the north side while the beach and Mississippi Sound open up to the south. This was once known as the “Riviera of the South,” and the elegance is still visible in the architecture and landscaping. The drive is beautiful any time of day, but sunset turns the Sound gold and makes it unforgettable.

Pass Christian Harbor

The Pass Christian Harbor is the center of the town’s waterfront life. It is home to recreational sailboats, fishing boats, and charter operations. The harbor has a public pier, a boat launch, and a small park area where you can sit and watch the boats. Fishing from the pier produces speckled trout, redfish, and flounder depending on the season. The Pass Christian Yacht Club, established in 1849, is the second-oldest yacht club in the United States. Sailing has been part of this town’s identity for more than 170 years. While the club is private, regattas and sailing events throughout the year are visible from the harbor and beach.

War Memorial Park

War Memorial Park sits along the beachfront and provides shaded picnic areas, walking paths, and a playground. It is a popular spot for families and a common location for community events, outdoor concerts, and holiday celebrations. The park offers direct beach access and is one of the best places in town to relax and enjoy the water views.

Historic Downtown

The downtown district along Davis Avenue and the surrounding blocks has been rebuilt and revitalized since Hurricane Katrina. Small galleries, antique shops, boutiques, and locally owned restaurants give it a walkable charm that rewards slow exploration. Galleries showcase Gulf Coast artists, and restaurants serve fresh seafood in casual settings. The downtown is compact enough to cover on foot in an afternoon.

Henderson Point and Pass Christian Isles

Henderson Point occupies the eastern end of Pass Christian where the town meets Long Beach. This quiet residential area sits on a peninsula and is known for peaceful streets and water views. On the western side, the Pass Christian Isles neighborhood is built around canals that connect to the Sound. Both areas reward a slow drive or bike ride.
